Multiple Intelligences & Mini Bells
In his book ‘Frames of Mind’, Howard Gardner, a psychologist and Harvard professor, revolutionised the way we think about intelligence with his theory of Multiple Intelligences. He argued that people have different kinds of intelligences, each showing how we can learn and think in unique ways.
Each of these intelligences highlights unique strengths and talents, suggesting that training and learning should be tailored to accommodate diverse learning approaches and tendencies. By recognising and nurturing these different ways of being in the world, we can create more effective and inclusive educational environments that forster creativity and innovation and empower individuals to reach their full potential.
Gardner initially posited 7 different intelligences adding ‘Naturalist’ Intelligence a little later and suggesting ‘Existential’ Intelligence later again.
When we add these concepts together we have an acronym and visual to support us to keep these top of mind when designing learning and training, working with coaching clients, mentees, and those coming to us for supervision.
