The MBTI® is a personality inventory or questionnaire that sorts people into 16 types depending on how they fall on four different scales. The four scales are:
1. Extraversion/Introversion - How am I around people?
2. Sensing/Intuition – How Do I prefer to gather information?
3. Thinking/Feeling – How do I make decisions?
4. Judging/Perceiving – What sort of lifestyle is best for me?
The theory behind the MBTI® is that people have a tendency to feel more comfortable at either end of the spectrum across those four preferences. The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 personality types. Types are typically denoted by four letters--for example, INTJ (Introversion, Intuition with Thinking and Judging)--to represent one’s tendencies on the four scales. Your assessment report will help you better understand how you
approach the world, how you prefer to make decisions and what kind of environment you feel most comfortable in.
The MBTI® instrument is designed to help you understand your unique personality and the way you relate to others around you. It is backed by thousands of research studies and has been found to be both reliable and valid in assessing personality. Last year alone two million people used their MBTI® results to gain understanding about themselves and the people around them.
